National Innovation Diploma in Film and Television Production
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
1. GOAL:
To produce technically competent manpower to meet the National requirement in the areas of film and television production.
2. OBJECTIVES: A product of NID in film and television production should be able to:
a. Prepare costume and make – up actors,
b. Identify and operate equipment used in film and television production,
c. Perform basic directing, producing and editing,
d. Produce technically good films and television productions.
3. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR NATIONAL INNOVATIVE DIPLOMA IN FILM & TELEVISION PRODUCTION
The general entry requirements for the NID programme are:
a) Post Secondary School Leavers with 5 Credit level passes in SSCE or equivalent, who are desirous of acquiring relevant employable skills.
b) Unemployed or under-employed graduates looking for requisite employable skills.
c) Employed graduates who desire relevant or additional working skills.
d) Those out of school for a long time, in line with Government desire for open access to reskilling and upskilling of the nations workforce as part of Life Long Learning (LLL).
National Innovation Diploma in PERFORMING AND MEDIA ARTS
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE AND NOMENCLATURE
The Programme which will lead to the attainment to the National Innovation Diploma in Performing and Media Arts will be taken in flexible modular curricula. The programme shall have a cogent and flexible structure and content that will equip the trainee with a unit of acquired skills.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:
a. Equip the students with adequate training in dance, drama (performing arts) and technology of African and western live and multi-media production design/decoration, costume design and presentation for actors and acting;
b. Prepare and produce diplomates who will be competent to perform, write plays, set up locations, design costumes for actors/acting as creative innovations in the profession for the Nigerian/International public and private organizations in the profession or industries (film industries);
c. Prepare students for professional technical innovations in performances and production techniques at the various levels of academic, private and public sector use and in entertainment. A product of NID in Performing Arts should be able to:-i Produce live and multimedia productions
d. Plan, establish and manage the production.
e. Identify, maintain and repair production equipment.
f. Process, package and market performances.
1.0 Entry requirements for National Innovation Diploma in Performing and Media Arts
The general entry requirements for the NID Programme are:-
- Five credits in English Language, English Literature, History/Government and any other two.
- Additional requirements Music (optional).
National Innovation Diploma in MASS COMMUNICATION
GOAL AND OBJECTIVES
PROGRAMME GOAL:
The National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication is meant to give the students technological education and professional skills necessary for employment and job creation in various areas of mass communication industry, such as newspapers, magazines, radio, television, film/video, new media, public relations, advertising, news agency, government and corporate information services.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
On completion of this course, the diplomats will be able to carry out the following functions:
a) Gather, investigate and report news for the print, broadcast and online media
b) Select, edit and prepare for publication, news items, features, photographic graphics and multimedia materials and results of investigations for print and
c) Produce, present and direct programmes for the electronic media
d) Produce, present, and direct programmes
e) Plan, prepare and produce materials for public relations and advertising purposes.
f) Know various outlets/contacts for commercial utilization of feature and magazine articles
g) Identify outlets for publishing of features and magazine articles.
h) Know how to negotiate terms for publishing articles.
i) Understand rights of the article author
NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) IN FASHION DESIGN AND CLOTHING TECHNOLOGY
For human convenience and survival, there are three basic necessities: Food, Shelter and Clothing (Textiles). Textiles are so much an integral part of human existence that they have become the real essence of life without which the whole world will go naked.
All textile fabrics have to be made up in one form or another; for clothing, home furnishing and other industrial applications. The fabric manufacturer’s product therefore becomes someone else’s raw materials. The fashion design programme has thus been prompted by the obvious need to train manpower for the development and growth of the garment manufacturing industry in Nigeria, the industry being responsible for the conversion of the fabric manufacturer’s product into finished garments.
GOAL AND OBJECTIVES
The ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology programme is designed to produce creative and skilled technicians in fashion design for both public and private sectors of the economy. On completion of the programme, the diplomats should be able to.
1.Set-up and manage a small scale Fashion Design Production Unit;
2. Select materials for Fashion production
3. Assist a fashion designer in a well established fashion production outfit in:
(a) Designing
(b) Pattern Making
(c) Sewing Operation
(d) Finishing,
(e) Displaying and Merchandising, etc.
4. Work in a Fashion or Fashion related industry.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) National Diploma in Multi-Media Technology
Programme Goal
The programme is designed to produce Multimedia Technicians capable of undertaking the design and implementation of multimedia applications and web sites utilizing a broad range of up to date multimedia assets and equipment for a wide range of employers including:
1. Business Centres
2. Media Houses
3. Publishing Houses
4. Training Centres (both commercial and academic)
Programme Objectives
On completion of the programme the diplomats of ND in Multimedia Technology will be able to:
1. Operate multimedia equipment including:
a. personal computer systems;
b. digital audio and video production studios;
c. multimedia presentation systems;
2. Maintain multimedia equipment;
3. Create basic elements of digital media including audio, video, animation and images;
4. Implement effective multimedia presentations and applications that incorporate appropriate forms of digital media;
5. Design, implement and maintain websites utilizing best practice techniques;
6. Plan multimedia projects and manage it.
National Diploma (ND) in Computer Science
Goal and Objectives of the programme
The National Diploma programme is designed to produce diplomats capable of applying computer in various areas of computing.
Objectives
Diplomats of this programme should be able to:-
i. Operate Computer systems
ii. Use various Computer packages
iii. Maintain hardware
iv. Solve simple hardware problems
v. Use various programming languages:
- Visual BASIC
- JAVA
- C Programming
- Unified Modelling Language (UML)
- Hyper Text Mark-up Language
vi. Use Internet

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY”
GOAL AND OBJECTIVES
The National Diploma Programme in Computer Engineering Technology is designed to produce computer technicians to install, maintain and repair computer system software, hardware and its peripherals. More specifically, diplomats of the programme should be able to:
a) Map out the layout for computers installation and networking;
b) Set up the installation, configuration and the operation of a computer system(s);
c) Set up the installation, configuration and the operation of computer networks;
d) Use appropriate instruments and software to carry out simple tests and measurements on all subsystems in a computer and its peripherals;
e) Carry out routine maintenance and repair of:
i. Computer Hardware;
ii. Computer Software; and
iii. Computer Peripherals.
f) Construct simple computer circuit;
g) Develop simple programming codes;
h) Present technical reports; and
i) Manage a small enterprise.
SYNOPSIS OF THE ACADEMIC & CAREER PROGRESSION OF ND HOLDER
He/She:
1. Can be admitted into HND programmes e.g., Computer Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication
2. Can be admitted through direct entry (DE) into bachelor’s degree programmes
3. Can work as a technician

NATIONAL INNOVATION DIPLOMA in MUSIC TECHNOLOGY
GOAL AND OBJECTIVES
Goal:
The NATIONAL INNOVATION DIPLOMA in Music is designed to provide technically competent diplomats in Music to meet the National requirement in the areas of Musical Arts Education and Practices, and maintenance of musical instruments/fabrication for enterprise of the public and private sector of the economy.
Objectives:
A product of NATIONAL INNOVATION DIPLOMA in Music should be able to :-
i. Foster creativity and professionalism in musical production.
ii. Establish a solo or chamber musical outfit.
iii. Train interested persons as instrumentalists and singers.
iv. Fabricate and maintain basic musical instruments.
v. Compose music in various genres and styles, within the context of social-cultural values and musical traditions.
vi. Organize musical performances.
vii. Produce musical albums.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
PROGRAMME GOAL
The programme is designed to produce diplomats capable of supervising appropriate departments in Hospitality Organizations.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the programme, the diplomate should be able to carry out the following tasks:
1. Produce Nigerian and International dishes using both local and exotic food commodities.
2. Organize accommodation in hospitality establishments.
3. Supervise restaurants and bar operations in hospitality organizations.
4. Supervise specific departments in large hospitality organizations.
5. Manage small to medium sized hospitality organizations
NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN ESTATE MANAGEMENT
Land impinges upon almost every facets of contemporary society. With this awareness, dire need for land conservation and good husbandry cannot be over-emphasized.
The programme is aimed at producing sub-professional who will be capable of handling and performing to an acceptable standard certain range of Estate development and management functions and solving problems in their various fields of employment with some supervision.
General Objectives
At the end of the programme, the diplomats should be able to exhibit adequate knowledge, skills, and technical know-how in the use, development, and management of land on the following:-
- Inspect, survey, and report on land and building for development and management purposes;
- Examine, produce, and interpret building plans;
- Undertake the preparation, keeping, and updating of land records.
BANKING AND FINANCE NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND)
GENERAL INFORMATION
GOAL OF THE ND PROGRAMME ARE:
The
goal of the National Diploma (ND) programme in Banking and Finance is to
produce intermediate technical manpower with sound theoretical and
practical knowledge who can effectively perform a range of various functions in
banks, other financial institutions, commerce, industry, private and public
enterprises.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ND
BANKING AND FINANCE PROGRAMME
The
diplomats of the ND Banking and Finance should be able to:

Collect
and integrate basic financial data for use in investment decisions.

Assist
in the preparation of final accounts of companies and other financial
organizations.
·
Assist
in the preparation of short and long term budgets;
·
Collect
and collate relevant financial information to aid superior officers/and
management financial decisions.
·
Compute
basic financial and statistical ratios.
·
Assist
in the analysis and evaluation of investment proposals, price and market
trends.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS NATIONAL
DIPLOMA
Applicants
with the following qualifications may be considered for admission into the
National programmers
by
direct entry:
Senior
Secondary Certificate or its equivalent (Teachers Grade II, W.A.S.C., GCE
Ordinary Level). with four
credit
passes in English Language, Mathematics and any other two subjects from the
following: Economics,
Business
Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Commerce, History,
Statistics, Geography,
Government,
Agric. Science/Biology obtained at not more than two sitting; or
Four
credit passes in relevant subjects as stated in (i) above obtained at the final
examination of an NBTE
recognized
Preliminary ND Programme offered by the polytechnics and similar post-secondary
technical
institutions.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) IN
ACCOUNTANCY
GENERAL INFORMATION
ND
programmes should contribute adequately to the production of good quality and
dedicate
business-manpower
for commerce, industry, private and public enterprise.
THE
GOAL AND THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ND ACCOUNTANCY PROGRAMME
The
goal of the ‘National Diploma in Accountancy is to produce a technician level
manpower
who
can effectively perform a range of functions in the field of Accountancy.
The
objectives of the ND Accountancy are to:
(i)
demonstrate a basic knowledge of financial operations of different types of
business.
(ii)
assist in the collection and integration of basic financial data for use in
investment decisions.
(iii)
prepare final accounts of business.
(iv)
assist in the preparation of short and long term budget plans;
(v)
collect and collate relevant financial information to aid superior officers and

(vi)
interpret some basic ratio, statistical and financial data.
(vii)

programme by direct entry:

G.C.E. Ordinary level or its equivalent (Teachers Grade II, W.A.S.C., S.S.C.E.)

Mathematics
and any other two subjects from the following: Economics, Business Methods,
Principles of Accounts, Literature in
English,
Commerce, History, Statistics, geography, Government Agric Science/Biology
obtained at not more than two sittings, or
(ii)
Four credit passes in relevant subjects as stated in (i) above obtained at the
final examination of an NBTE recognized Preliminary ND
Programme offered by the polytechnics and similar post-secondary technical institutions.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) IN MARKETING
GOAL OF THE NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN MARKETING
The National Diploma Programme in
Marketing is aimed at producing diplomates with appropriate theoretical and
practical knowledge to efficiently carry out middle level marketing activities
in industry, public service and as entrepreneurs.
OBJECTIVES OF THE NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN MARKETING
At the end of the National Diploma programme,
the diplomate should be able to:
use the basic principles that guide marketing practice;
utilize quantitative and qualitative research based evidence
in marketing practice;
identify and exploit market opportunities innovatively and
proactively;
use entrepreneurial skills as employees and entrepreneurs;
identify and analyze marketing problems and design marketing
strategies to overcome them;
interpret and assist in the execution of overall corporate
policies;
assist in the preparation of marketing plans;
write marketing reports;
assist in the efficient execution of marketing communication
strategies;
apply product and brand management skills;
assist in the efficient execution of pricing policies and

Requirements
National Diploma (ND) in
Marketing.
The
general entry requirements for the ND progoramme are:
1.1
WASC, NECO, GCE ‘O’ Level or the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or their
equivalent with five credits including English Language and Mathematics
(Literature in English and Oral English are not acceptable in place of English
Language) and three other subjects from economics, Business Methods, Principles
of Accounts, Literature in English, Commerce, History, Statistics, Geography,
Government, Agric Science/Biology.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND)
PROGRAMME IN PHOTOGRAPHY
1.0
PHILOSOPHY OF THE PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAMME
The Photography Programme is designed to reflect a FUNCTIONAL
philosophy of education. While seeking to achieve academic excellence and
promote the furtherance of knowledge, the Photography programme also seeks to
aid “… the acquisition of appropriate skills, abilities and competences, both
mental and physical as equipment for the individual to live in and contribute
to the development of his society..”
The programme is therefore committed to the production of qualified
and competent technicians who will be able to face the challenges concomitant
with the aspiration of the country to be technologically developed and the
Technicians to be self-reliant after graduation.
2.0 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The programme aims at producing photographers for the society,
industries, organizations and commercial concerns. The diplomate should be able
to:
-Assist effectively in running photographic practice;
-Analyse and solve simple problems related to photography;
- Maintain, select and operate both analog and digital tools and
equipment used in the profession;
- Carry out photographic studio installation and maintenance;
- Apply management principles in organising supervisory groups and in
the arrangement of sequence of activities.
- Display basic entrepreneur skills.
- Apply adequate Information Technology (IT) skills.
3.0 MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for admission into the programme should have a minimum of:
(i) Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) with at least pass in
English Language and credit passes in five subjects in at most two sittings
which must include, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and two other subjects
from
- Fine art
-English language -Agricultural science - Further mathematics -
Economics - Statistics
- Technical drawing,
(ii) GCE ´O’ Level or its equivalent (Teachers Grade II or West
African School Certificate) with at least a pass in English Language and credit
passes in five relevant subjects as specified in (i) above.
(iii) National
Technical Certificate (NTC) with five credit passes in mathematics, integrated
physical science, English Language and in the art and design trade areas.
(iv) Pass at
NBTE recognized Pre-National Diploma entry requirement in English Language and
five credits in the relevant subjects listed in (i) above.
4.0 DURATION
The duration of
the programme is a minimum of two academic sessions consisting of four
semesters of 18 weeks each and a maximum of four academic sessions consisting
of eight semesters.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) IN STATISTICS
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 CERTIFICATION AND TITLE OF THE
PROGRAMME:
The
certificate to be awarded and the programme title shall read:
“NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN STATISTICS”
A
transcript showing all the courses taken and grades obtained shall be issued on
demand.
2.0 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
2.1 National Diploma Programme:
The
national diploma programme in statistics is aimed at producing assistant
statisticians capable of collecting data, analyzing and making inference
under
supervision.
On
the completion of this programme, the diplomate should be able to:
(i)
Acquire a good knowledge of basic statistics and statistical methods:
(ii)
Understand the applications of statistics in commercial, industrial and
scientific environment;
(iii)
Acquire a practical skill in data collection, analysis and research methods;
(iv)
Understand the use of computers for various purposes.
(v)
Set out statistical projects under supervision.
3.0 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
3.1 NATIONAL DIPLOMA
Applicants
with any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission into
the National Diploma programme by direct entry:
(1)
Four credit level passes in the West African School Certificate, Senior
Secondary School Certificate or General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary
level and National Examination Council (NECO), TCII, NTC, in not more than two
sittings. The subject must include mathematics and any three of the following:
Statistics, Geography, further mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Agricultural
Science, Economics. At least, pass in English language is compulsory.
(2)
Candidates who have successfully completed the Boards recognized Pre-National
Diploma (Science and Technology) course. Such students must have passed mathematics,
English language and any two subject listed in (1) above.
NATIONAL INNOVATION DIPLOMA IN COSMETOLOGY
AND BEAUTY THERAPY
GOAL: The National Innovation
Diploma in Cosmetology and Beauty Therapy is designed to equip Students with
skills
and knowledge for a carrier in the salon and beauty industry.
OBJECTIVE:
A
Diploma holder of this programme should be able to:
_ Identify the main aspects of modern Cosmetology and
beauty therapy business,
_ Carry out a range of beauty therapy techniques,
_ Investigate a variety of products, techniques and
technologies used in the industry.
_ Apply Beauty therapy within the cultural context of
the society.
_ Carry out beauty therapy based on the understanding of
the anatomy and physiology of ageing,
_ Analyse and demonstrate a range of interpersonal
skills required within the profession.
_ Apply the knowledge of how organizations work in order
to achieve organization’s objectives,
_ Market the products and services of a beauty salon.
ENTRY QUALIFICATION:
The
general entry requirements into the National Innovation Diploma in Cosmetology
and Beauty Therapy
programme
are:
· Post
basic Education Certificate (Post JSS) with at least 5 credit levels pass in
SSCE or equivalent. The
subjects
include: Credit pass in English and any four of the following: Mathematics,
Chemistry,
Biology,
Health Science, Commerce, Economics, Geography, History and any Nigerian
Language. Etc.
· Unemployed
